Waiting around and hoping to get lucky with perfect hole cards is gambling, too. Poker is about decision making and timed aggression. If you are gonna play passively and super tight with a short stack you will end up playing passively with yourself while watching WSOP on ESPN.

He didnt have to go all in. Why would you risk everything on a 7/8 suited? He had enough chips to wait for a better hand thats just gambling.

I’d rather push with 7-8 suited than with A-4 off suit. Why? because that’s what people will call you with, ace and pretty much any card. Let’s say you had a weak ace and you had to go up against a strong ace, you’re pretty much f-ed. If you have 7-8 suited you at least have two live cards instead of just one, granted that your opponent doesn’t have A-7 or A-8.

Getting ready for WSOP
OMG people when you are that short stacked the cards don’t even matter!!! When you are short like that, you need to play situation poker, meaning looking for a good spot to push all in and not looking for a good hand to push all in because you just don’t have time to wait. When it has been folded around to you in the small blind with a short stack, the situation is good for you no matter what your hand strength is because you have a heads up situation and doubling up is much more likely HU…

M ratio is your stack divided by the sum of the small and big blind. Also when you’re shortstacked it can be favourable to shove and 2 in certain circumstances.

You’re right about connectors. Definitely you also want to wait for a high card if at all possible. But, I played in a tournament today and was surprised how many people folded when I went all-in as a desperation move. Maybe they were reading me and knew I only bet with a good hand? Still, I was almost broke.

Bad advice! Pushing all-in in this situation is a terrible mistake. Suited connectors are worse than just about any hand any other player will choose to call with. It’s much better to wait for a couple of high cards or a nice pocket pair.
The fact that you chose to push all-in from the blinds might also suggest that you’re not pushing all-in because you have a good hand, but because you’re pot-commited. This makes it more likely that other players will call you.
